India football team are set to land in Dhaka with Australian-born forward Ryan Williams as the most eye-catching name in Khalid Jamil’s 23-man squad for Tuesday’s AFC Asian Cup 2027 qualifier against Bangladesh.

Williams, who recently received his Indian passport, has travelled with the team, but his participation will depend entirely on an NOC from Football Australia and final approvals from FIFA and the AFC.

The Indian team, after training in Bengaluru since November 6, will arrive in Dhaka on Saturday evening. Despite India already being out of contention following last month’s defeat to Singapore, the match still carries competitive interest, with both India and Bangladesh sitting level at the bottom of Group C with two points each.

Following the retirement of legendary striker Sunil Chhetri, India’s attacking unit now turns to its young guns. Mohammad Sanan, Vikram Pratap Singh, and the pacey Lallianzuala Chhangte are expected to lead the frontline. Williams could offer an added dimension if the international clearances come through in time.
