Yasmin Akhter from Bancharampur in Brahmanbaira has found new hope after receiving a sewing machine from Bashundhara Group, which she believes will help her support her struggling family.
“In our family, besides my parents, we are three sisters and one brother. One sister is married, and my only brother, Sajeeb, who is just eight years old, often has to help our father instead of going to school,” Yasmin said.
Currently pursuing her bachelor degree, Yasmin shared that financial hardship often hampered her education.
“Sometimes I could not afford to buy books and had to borrow them from others,” she said.
Her father, Jonab Ali, runs a small tea stall, barely managing to feed the family. With the sewing machine, Yasmin is determined to change that.
“Now I can earn to support my own education and help with family expenses. It feels good to think that I can ease my father’s burden. I am proud to be on the path to becoming self-reliant,” she said.
Expressing her gratitude, Yasmin praised Bashundhara Group’s initiatives.
“The way Bashundhara Group is working for the welfare of people is unparalleled. Their sewing machine distribution programme will be a great help for helpless women like us,” she said, offering prayers for the Group’s chairman and his family.
