Global brand HONOR is set to begin local manufacturing in Bangladesh after signing an agreement with Smart Technologies (BD) Ltd., marking a major milestone for the country’s tech sector.
Under the partnership, HONOR will establish a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at Smart Hi-Tech Park in Kaliakoir, boosting local production capacity and expanding access to advanced mobile technology for Bangladeshi consumers.
The agreement was signed by George Zhao, President of HONOR South East Asia, and Md Jahirul Islam, Managing Director of Smart Technologies BD Pvt. Ltd.
Once operational, HONOR devices will carry the “Made in Bangladesh” label -- signalling a shift toward deeper localisation, enhanced affordability, and stronger technological capabilities within the country, Smart Technologies said in a press release on Sunday.
Speaking at the signing, George Zhao said Bangladesh is a fast-growing and highly promising market. 
Through this partnership, we aim to bring HONOR’s global AI innovation closer to the people of Bangladesh. Local manufacturing reflects our deep commitment to nurturing local talent and delivering high-quality devices in the country,” he noted.
Md Jahirul Islam said the collaboration will open new opportunities and strengthen Bangladesh’s tech ecosystem. “We are proud to partner with HONOR to support their long-term vision.
The new facility will help develop local expertise and contribute to the nation’s technological advancement. We look forward to producing world-class products right here in Bangladesh,” he said.
HONOR officially entered the Bangladesh market in 2023 and has quickly positioned itself as one of the country’s leading smartphone brands.
The new manufacturing initiative aligns with its global mission -- guided by the HONOR Alpha Plan -- to deliver human-centric innovation, technological excellence, and shared growth through strategic local collaborations.
