Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become an integral part of daily life in Bangladesh, with 96% of internet users saying they now use AI regularly—up from 88% in 2024. The rise reflects the country’s accelerating digital transformation where mobile phones serve as the primary gateway to online learning, financial services, and day-to-day tasks.

The findings were released on Tuesday in Digital Lives Decoded 2025: Building Trust in Bangladesh’s AI Future, Telenor Asia’s latest study based on a survey of 1,000 Bangladeshi internet users. The fourth edition of the report looks at how AI adoption is evolving and emphasizes the need for responsible and secure use of the technology.

“As mobile phones continue to transform daily life in Bangladesh, they have become powerful enablers of smarter, more connected communities,” said Jon Omund Revhaug, Head of Telenor Asia.

Mobile Phones Drive AI into Everyday Life

Mobile phones are reshaping how people learn, work, and manage finances. According to the study, 62% use mobile devices for online learning, 54% for remote work, and 50% for financial management. The greatest increases over the past year were seen in remote work (+39%) and budgeting or expense tracking (+36%).

High Trust in AI Fuels Optimism for Education and Economy

Nearly six in ten respondents use AI in some form every day, with many turning to AI to create content for school, work, or personal projects. AI is also being used to access personalized advice related to health, finances, and planning experiences.

Respondents showed the highest trust in AI-generated educational content and AI chatbots, and this confidence translates into growing optimism about AI’s potential to strengthen both education outcomes and the national economy.

Workplace AI Adoption Rising, but Strategy Lags

AI use in the workplace climbed sharply, from 44% in 2024 to 62% in 2025. Yet only about half of those who use AI at work say their organization has a formal AI strategy—highlighting a gap in structured guidance.

Younger Generations Embrace AI—but Also Voice Concerns

Despite widespread enthusiasm, concerns persist. Many respondents expressed worries about becoming too dependent on AI, as well as the potential risks to job security and personal privacy.

Younger users—though the most frequent and confident AI adopters—were also the most concerned about the rapid pace of AI development. The combination of optimism and caution, the report notes, reflects a generation excited about AI’s potential yet determined to see stronger safeguards in place.

The Need for Inclusive, Safe Digital Access

“Alongside the optimism surrounding the potential of AI in Bangladesh, there is a pressing reality,” Revhaug added. “Without access to connectivity or the skills to safely navigate the digital world, people risk being left behind. Our responsibility is to bridge this divide and build a digital society where no one is excluded.”
