A usually busy street and the vibrant campus of BSRM School turned into a magical land - a place free from exams, homework pressure, and worries on Friday morning. It transformed into a celebration dedicated solely to joy and equal opportunities for all children.

Burhani BSRM High School in the city’s Bayezid Bostami area organised the exceptional event “Happy Street Day” marking the spirit of Victory Day.

The hallmark of the event was its strong emphasis on social inclusion. Alongside students of Burhani BSRM High School, children from neighbouring schools and marginalised communities participated spontaneously.

The initiative reaffirmed that childhood and the right to joy should never be divided by economic or social boundaries.

The day began with the national anthem on the school grounds. Soon after, the street beside the school was declared car-free, transforming the black-topped road and the playground into a vibrant space for children’s free movement and laughter.

From crawl jump maze to hit the clown, hand-foot game, focus challenge, tug of war, and various innovative activities - children fully immersed themselves in play.

Beyond sports, cultural performances captivated the crowd. A magic corner drew special attention where ninth-grader Shaila Kayser Puspo of Burhani BSRM High School performed stunning magic tricks. Her performance especially enchanted the underprivileged children with their eyes widening with wonder.

“I learned magic from my father. Today, I feel truly happy to perform not only for my classmates but for everyone in the neighbourhood,” Puspo told the Daily Sun.

Many children also had the chance to sing, recite poetry, and perform short plays based on the Liberation War.

The event also provided a platform for underprivileged children to showcase their hidden talents. Visitors freely roamed the festive spaces, enjoying a wide array of delightful activities.

Abdur Rahman, a student of Kagatia Ahsatul Ulum Madrasa, said, “We couldn’t believe at first that another school would let us come and play like this. Now I see the playground really belongs to everyone!”

Local parent Jannatul Mawa expressed her joy, saying, “My son isn’t strong in studies, but today he joined the tug of war and was so happy. Most importantly, he didn’t feel different from anyone else.”

School authorities stated that this is not just an event - it’s a message. Children should know that society belongs to them. With the right opportunities, every child can flourish, they added.

The event was attended by BSRM Group Director and founder of Frobel Play School and Frobel Academy Huwra Tehseen Zohair,

BSRM Group Director Sabeen Aameir, Head of CSR Runi Rahman and the school’s headmaster Abdul Kader.Notably, Burhani BSRM High School provides completely free education from nursery to grade X for underprivileged and marginalised children.
