Defying the ban, some unscrupulous fishermen continue to catch hilsa illegally and openly sell them at a makeshift market on the banks of the Padma in the Kazirsura area of Shibchar upazila in Madaripur on Monday. In this temporary market, wholesale prices range from Tk1,200 to Tk1,600 per kg, while smaller hilsa are being sold for Tk300 to Tk500 per kg.
