Novartis (Bangladesh) Limited has officially been renamed Nevian Lifescience PLC following the acquisition of majority shares by Radiant Pharmaceuticals Ltd from Novartis AG, Switzerland. The shareholding of BCIC remains unchanged.
This transition marks the end of Novartis AG’s direct operations in Bangladesh, which began in 1973 with the establishment of Ciba-Geigy (Bangladesh). Nevian will now carry forward this 250-year global legacy with a renewed focus on both local and international growth, according to a press release.
Under a licensing agreement, Nevian will continue to manufacture and distribute Novartis’ global brands, ensuring the same quality standards and production facilities.
Managing Director Musawath Shams Zahedee stated: “While the name has changed, our commitment to life-saving medicines remains the same.”
With an EU-GMP-certified facility in Tongi, Nevian plans to expand exports to the USA, Europe, and other markets, positioning Bangladesh as an emerging global pharmaceutical hub.
