National Citizen Party (NCP) Chief Organiser for the Southern Region, Hasnat Abdullah, stated that the people of Bangladesh will never again hand over the country to fascists.
Hasnat made the remarks on Tuesday while addressing a street rally organised by the Chattogram city unit of the NCP in the city’s Chawk Bazar area.
He said, “We will never allow the country to fall into the wrongful hands of fascists again. We don’t want to see our brothers and sisters gunned down on the streets.”
“There’s no room for those who treat politics as a profession. Politics is not a place for personal gain—it is a place for sacrifice,” he noted.
He urged the students to be courageous, to dream bigger and learn the power of questioning.
Calling for waging an anti-corruption movement from the family, Hasnat said, “If you father gives you an iPhone worth Tk1.5 lakh after paying Tk25,000 in rent on a monthly income of Tk40000, you should ask questions.”
“Our campaign against corruption must begin at home, only then we will develop the courage to hold those in state power accountable,” he added.
The NCP leader further stated, “Our leaders are embezzling funds. They exploit the tender system and plunder the resources meant for the poor.”
“And our voters sell their votes. Before you elect the right leader, you must become the right kind of voter,” Hasnat said, urging people to vote considering leadership, not symbol.
Among others, NCP Senior Joint Member-Secretary Tasnim Zara, Joint Member Secretary Mir Arshadul Haque, Joint Chief Organisers Mahmuda Alam Mitu and Md Ataullah, and Organiser Arman Hossain addressed the gatherings.
As part of its ongoing organisational tour, the NCP held street rallies in various areas of Chattogram city on Tuesday.
