Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman returned to Dhaka on Monday following the conclusion of his official visit to Qatar.
During the visit, the Army chief held courtesy meetings and discussions with senior civil and military officials, including the deputy prime minister and minister of state for defence affairs, the minister of state for interior affairs, the chief of staff of the Qatar Armed Forces, and the deputy commander of the Internal Security Forces (Lekhwiya), according to a press release issued by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

On 3 May 2025, General Waker-Uz-Zaman paid a courtesy call on Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, president of the Qatar Olympic Committee. Their discussions covered a range of mutual interests, including collaboration between the Olympic Committees of both nations, support for sports training initiatives, the strengthening of bilateral ties, and the potential establishment of an Olympic Village in Bangladesh.
The following day, the Army Chief held separate meetings with Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan bin Ali Al Thani, deputy prime minister and minister of state for defence affairs, and Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Faisal bin Mohammed Al Thani, minister of state for interior affairs. The meetings focused on deepening defence cooperation, developing the defence industry, and exploring opportunities for the exchange of skilled manpower.
On the same day, General Waker-Uz-Zaman also met with Lieutenant General Jassim bin Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Mannai, chief of staff of the Qatar Armed Forces. Their discussions centred on strengthening bilateral military ties, training support, joint exercises, exchange programmes between military institutions, and employment opportunities in Qatar for retired personnel of the Bangladesh Army.
It is worth noting that the Army chief departed for Qatar on 3 May 2025 for the official visit.
