The Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) will stage protests nationwide, demanding the trial, cancellation of registration, and a ban on the Awami League's political activities.
As part of the programme, the party will organise a protest rally in Dhaka on 2 May.
These decisions were made during the fourth general meeting of the party at its temporary central office at Rupayan Tower in the capital’s Bangla Motor on Saturday night.
The meeting, chaired by NCP convener Md Nahid Islam and moderated by member secretary Akhtar Hosan, saw the participation of central members, as confirmed in a notification sent by NCP joint member secretary (office) Saleh Uddin Sifat.

Earlier, the party held protests in Mohammadpur, Tejgaon, Press Club, Gulshan, Rampura, Paltan, Motijheel, Ramna, Shahbagh, and Uttara zones in the capital. This time, the party plans to expand its protests nationwide, in addition to Dhaka.
The meeting also decided to form a “political council” to enhance organisational dynamism, with all policy decisions to be made by it.
Besides, an “executive council” will also be formed to implement these decisions. After three months, this committee will renew, reassess or include new members based on the situation.
It was also decided to form a constitution drafting team, consisting of five or more members, to create the party's constitution. The team was instructed to complete the draft within the next week.
