Six killed in Rangamati road accident

At least six people, including two women, were killed in a collision between a CNG-run auto-rickshaw and a pickup van on the Chattogram-Rangamati road in Betbunia of Kawkhali upazila in Rangamati on Saturday.
Five of the deceased were Mahmudur Rahman, a resident of Hathazari upazila, Abu Taher, of Raozan upazila, Joynal Abedin, of Rangunia upazila, Iazdul, of Shitakunda upazila in Chattogram, and Nur Nahar, of Katwali area in Rangamati.
Sources report that an accident occurred around 10:15 AM in the Chairmanpara area of Betbunia, involving a head-on collision between a Chattogram-bound auto-rickshaw and a Rangamati-bound pickup van. As a result, three passengers in the auto-rickshaw were killed instantly.
Rangamati Additional Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ruhul Amin stated that three other injured individuals were rescued and transported to hospitals in Rangamati and Chattogram, but they succumbed to their injuries en route.
In a separate incident, a five-year-old girl named Jakia Islam was killed when a passenger bus collided with a pickup van on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram on Saturday morning.
Seven others, including the child's parents, sustained injuries in this accident and were rushed to various hospitals. Baro Awlia Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Belal Uddin Jahangir mentioned that the process of returning the child's body to the family is currently underway.
