Nasiruddin Faruque Sajib is set to be appointed as the head coach of the Bangladesh Women’s Emerging Team as the side begins preparations for their upcoming home series against the South Africa Emerging team, a Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) official confirmed on Monday.
The team is scheduled to begin its training camp at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP) on 10 April under Faruque’s supervision. A former national cricketer, Faruque has been actively involved with the BCB’s coaching structure in recent years and has previous experience working with the women’s team, making him a familiar and trusted figure within the setup.
“He has prior experience working with the women’s team. We believe he is the right fit for this role, especially ahead of a crucial home series,” said a BCB official.
The South Africa Emerging side is expected to arrive in Bangladesh on 7 May to participate in a bilateral series comprising three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and two four-day matches.
Upon arrival, the visitors will travel directly to Rajshahi, where all three ODIs will be held at the Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium on 12, 14, and 16 May.
The red-ball segment of the tour will follow, with the first four-day match scheduled from 20 to 23 May at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram. The second match will take place at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur from 27 to 30 May.
