Supradip Chakma, adviser to the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs, expressed optimism regarding the upcoming bilateral discussions between Professor Muhammad Yunus and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that the meeting is expected to yield positive results for both parties.
During a courtesy visit by student representatives at the Rangamati Circuit House on Friday, Supradip shared his belief that the discussions between Yunus and Modi would be productive.
"Our government is committed to the nation’s development and ensuring lasting peace for its people." He further stated, "First, we must understand ourselves—recognise our flaws, eliminate wrongful actions, and commit ourselves to the pursuit of truth," he said.
Encouraging the students, he urged them not to be influenced by rumours or baseless accusations. "Stay on the right path and avoid falling for blame or divisions. The responsibility of nation-building is a collective one," he added.
The adviser also highlighted that the government’s financial assistance and other forms of support are part of an ongoing process, ensuring that all residents of the Chittagong Hill Tracts—including the Chakma, Marma, Tripura, and Bengali communities—have the right to receive government aid.
He further assured, "In due time, all will receive government grants and support."
Supradip emphasised the government's goal of fostering economic development in the hill tracts, focussing particularly on revolutionising the agricultural sector. He also underscored the importance of creating self-employment opportunities for women in the region, concluding, "Our government remains steadfast in its commitment to the overall development of the country."
