Jewellers have inflated the price of high quality gold further by Tk2,613 to Tk1.53 lakh per bhori (11.664 grams) due to a hike in the price of pure gold in the local market.
The Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring of the Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) made the decision at a meeting held on Sunday.
The price of 22-carat gold will now be Tk13,158 per gram, and 21-carat Tk12,560 per gram, according to a press release signed by the Committee Chairman Masudur Rahman.
The price of 18-carat gold has been fixed at Tk10,766 a gram while that of traditional gold at Tk8,871 per gram. New tariffs would come into effect on Monday, the release added.
However, prices of silver remained unchanged. The price of 22-carat silver is Tk221 per gram, 21-carat Tk210, 18-carat Tk181, and traditional one is Tk136 per gram.
