David Hemp, who has served as the Bangladesh national team’s batting coach for nearly a year, is set to return to Bangladesh on Saturday, taking on a dual role.

He will join the Bangladesh Women's team as an assistant coach for the upcoming ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier in Pakistan. After completing that assignment, Hemp will resume his previous role as the head coach of the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) High-Performance (HP) unit.

Hemp confirmed the development to Daily Sun, stating, “I will be back on the 15th. I will be assisting the women’s team at the World Cup Qualifier in Pakistan and then returning to work with the High-Performance unit.”

A highly qualified coach, Hemp holds an ECB Level 4 Coaching Certification. As a batsman, he had a prolific first-class career, scoring over 15,500 runs while representing Glamorgan, Free State, and Warwickshire. He also played 24 ODIs for Bermuda.

Hemp brings extensive coaching experience, having served as the head coach of the Pakistan Women’s national team from 2020 to 2022. He has also held key coaching roles with the Victoria State Women’s team and the Melbourne Stars in the Women’s Big Bash League.
