Bangladesh national cricket team’s spin bowling consultant, Mushtaq Ahmed, is expected to receive a two-year contract extension until 2026, a Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) official confirmed on Thursday.

Both parties are expected to finalize the agreement soon, as only minor adjustments remain.

A senior BCB official confirmed the development to Daily Sun, adding that Mushtaq is expected to work approximately 130 days per year in various capacities with the board. He is set to receive $700 per day.

“Mushtaq will serve as the board’s spin consultant, not just for the national team but also for other programs aimed at developing our spinners, such as the High-Performance (HP) Unit,” the official said.

Mushtaq Ahmed, the former Pakistan leg-spinner and World Cup winner, initially joined Bangladesh team as a spin bowling coach in April 2024 on a contract that lasted until the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies and USA.

He later left due to personal commitments but returned ahead of the home series against South Africa. He was also part of Bangladesh’s coaching setup during the Champions Trophy.
