Yasir Ali’s masterclass powered Dhanmondi Sports Club (DSC) to a 24-run victory over Legends of Rupganj in the Bashundhara Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (BDPL) at BKSP Ground 3 on Friday.
His unbeaten 143 off 121 balls, his highest score in List-A cricket, proved to be the defining knock of the match, earning him the Player of the Match award.
DSC found themselves in trouble early, losing three wickets within the first 13 overs. With the scoreboard reading 57/3, Yasir Ali walked in and immediately took charge of the innings.
Yasir's knock, laced with seven boundaries and seven towering sixes, allowed DSC to post a formidable 332/7 in 50 overs. Contributions from Moin Khan (62 off 63) and Ziaur Rahman (40 off 18) provided the finishing touches to DSC’s innings.
In response, Legends of Rupganj had a shaky start, losing three wickets inside the first eight overs. However, a valiant effort from Saif Hassan (95 off 112) and Afif Hossain (98 off 96) kept them in the hunt. As the required run rate climbed, DSC’s bowlers applied pressure, with Moin Khan and Masum Khan picking up three wickets each.
Despite a late surge from Rejaur Rahman (49 off 39), Rupganj fell short, finishing at 308/9.
