Shubman Gill’s magnificent century led India to a dominant victory of 142 over England on Wednesday, sealing a 3-0 series whitewash in the ODIs. Gill’s composed 112 off 102 balls, along with crucial partnerships with Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer, set the foundation for India’s imposing total of 356.

India’s innings saw early jitters with Rohit Sharma’s dismissal, but Gill and Kohli steadied the ship with a 116-run stand. Kohli’s 52 off 55 balls provided solidity before he fell, after which Gill continued his fine touch, forging a 104-run partnership with Shreyas Iyer, who contributed a brisk 78 off 64 balls.

KL Rahul’s quickfire 40 off 29 and a handy cameo from Harshit Rana helped India finish strong, despite a slight stumble towards the end.

England’s chase started positively but quickly unravelled. Openers wasted a good start before Joe Root and Tom Banton looked to stabilise things. However, their dismissals in quick succession post the drinks break triggered a collapse, as Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav spun a web around the visitors. Harshit Rana then struck twice in consecutive overs, removing Jos Buttler and Harry Brook.

Ben Duckett showed intent early on despite struggling with a groin injury, smashing 34 off 22 balls with eight boundaries, but his dismissal to Arshdeep Singh further dented England’s hopes. With wickets tumbling regularly, India wrapped up another convincing win, reinforcing their dominance at home while England struggled to counter their all-round brilliance.
