Stock markets on Tuesday finished the session of the week flat as the major indices of the both Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges showed slightly down amid lower activities of large-cap securities.
DSEX, the broad index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange, edged down by 1.0 points to settle at 5,151 points as against 5,152 points in the previous trading session.
Meanwhile, trading activities remained stagnant with total turnover in DSE decreasing by 11.7% to Tk3.5 billion as against Tk4.0 billion in the previous session.
On the sectoral front, Pharma (15.6%) issues exerted the highest turnover, followed by Engineering (13.5%) and Bank (12.1%) sectors.
Most of the sectors displayed mixed returns, out of which Jute (3.6%), Engineering (3.2%) and Services (2.4%) exhibited the most gains on the bourse on Tuesday, while Telecom (-1.5%), Life Insurance (-0.5%) and Financial Institution (-0.4%) exerted some corrections.
Out of the 397 issues traded, 181 advanced, 130 declined and 86 remained unchanged.
The port city bourse, CSE, also settled on red terrain. The Selective Categories' Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) declined by 9.9 and 16.9 points, respectively.
