23rd Dhaka International Film Festival to kick off 11 January

The 23rd edition of Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF) will be held in Dhaka from 11 to 19 January 2025. The general theme of the festival is “Better Film, Better Audience and Better Society”.
The festival will feature film screenings, discussions and award ceremonies from home and abroad. The festival authorities said that the films eligible for screening have already been selected.
During the 23rd DIFF, organisers expect to screen about 220 films, with participation from around 70 countries.
About the upcoming event, the festival director Ahmed Mujtaba Jamal said, “A total of 220 films from 70 countries will be screened in this year’s festival. The process of obtaining permission for the films to be screened through the certification board has already begun.”
The selected films will be screened at different competitions including “Asian Cinema Section”, “Retrospective”, “Tribute”, “Wide Angle”, “Bangladesh Panorama Section”, “Cinema of the World Section”, “Children Films Section”, “Women Filmmakers Section”, “Short and Independent Films Section” and “Spiritual Films Section”.
Since 1992, the Rainbow Film Society has been organising the festival regulary. This society was established in 1977. Rainbow Film Society is a non-profit social and cultural organisation. Through the normal activities of the organisation and film festivals, and by screening advanced films and gathering internationally renowned films, the filmmakers, producers, distributors, exhibitors and crews associated with the film industry of Bangladesh are interested in healthy cine-culture in Bangladesh is one of the essential goals.
