Popular theatre troupe Bangladesh Theatre will hold a three-day event to celebrate its 38th founding anniversary. The event will feature a discussion, cultural programmes, and stage plays.
The inaugural programme of the event will take place at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy at 4:00pm today.
Later a cultural programme will be held followed by staging of the play “Sea Morog” at 6.30pm. Written by Asadullah Farazi, the play is directed by Huamyun Kabir Himu.
The story of “Sea Morog” revolves around an influential person from a village named Bajal Shikder, who finds a rooster and named it “Sea Morog” from a fairy tale. He thinks the rooster of the fairy tale takes Almas Kumar across the Seven Seas and the Thirteen Rivers to the fairyland of Gulbahar, the land of dreams. And since getting this rooster, Bajal Shikder thinks that everything he touches turns to gold.
The superstitious, greedy and possessive Shikdar thought that the plucked rooster had changed his destiny; because of this, he loves the rooster deeply. A lot of money is spent on rearing the rooster. For that reason, various conflicts arose with his three wives. Then the story of the comedy-drama continues.
The probable cast of the play includes Khandaker Shah Alam, Feroz Khan, Farzana Fatema Chowdhury Sumi, Masuda Khan, Sweety Akhtar Roni, Aziz Reza and others.
On the second day, the play “Siraj Jokhon Nawab Siraj-Ud-Doula” will be staged. Based on playwright Sachindranath Sengupta’s historical play, the drama has been adapted and directed by Abdul Aziz.
The closing day programme includes a cultural show and solo performance “Ami” by Khandaker Shah Alam. Written by Mahbub Alam, the play is directed by Irin Pervin Lopa.
