Labour and Employment Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan said on Sunday that conspiracies are now "being hatched through announcements”.
He made this remark while responding to journalists' questions, following a coordination meeting on the current labour situation at the secretariat in Dhaka.
When asked if the current administration, like previous ones, is inclined to see conspiracies behind labour unrest, the adviser was questioned on whether there would ever be a reprieve from these conspiracy theories.

He replied, "The official Awami League page, which posts from abroad, has shared posts meant to provoke workers. You must have seen them yesterday, as did I. The conspiracies are unfolding openly, for all to see on social media. Journalists have a role to play in countering these posts, and we are actively working on it."
He added that the Awami League's recent call to action for workers had not seen turnout.
"The workers did not take to the streets in response to the Awami League’s appeal because a large portion of them were not convinced. Had they been convinced, they would have marched towards Dhaka by now. But no one has turned up."

Addressing the ordinance issued to validate the interim government, Asif explained, "The legitimacy of this government comes from a popular uprising.  The progress of our activities over the past three months is apparent. Our chief adviser has been regularly meeting with the reform commissions.”
Noting that these reform commissions were established to dismantle fascist systems, he said, “We have already outlined a framework for finalising reforms in consultation with political parties. Through these measures, we hope to build the new Bangladesh we envision.”
The adviser further said that the issue of outstanding wages for workers is complex, involving both banks and owners. "One owner claimed he couldn’t obtain Tk5 crore from the bank, but investigations revealed he has defaulted on Tk200 in loans."
Following the meeting, it was reported that out of the 2,140 BGMEA member factories, 2,123 had paid the minimum wage up to September, while payments in the remaining 17 are still in process.
