Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus will lead a small delegation to the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, Foreign Adviser Md Touhid Hossain said on Monday.
“He will aim to complete his tasks as quickly as possible, so the visit, including travel time, won’t exceed a week,” Touhid told reporters at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka in the afternoon.
The adviser noted that only those with direct responsibilities at the UNGA will accompany the chief adviser. However, he noted that the exact dates and duration of the visit have not been finalised yet.
On Sunday, the foreign affairs adviser indicated that Prof Yunus might participate in a limited number of meetings on the sidelines of the UNGA while staying in New York.
During the visit, the chief adviser is also expected to attend a reception marking the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh’s relations with the United Nations, he added.
