Professor Abu Ahmed, a leading economist of the country and a capital market expert, on Sunday joined Investment Corporation of Bangladesh (ICB) as director and chairman of the board of directors.
 He also held the position of chairman of the board of directors of the state-owned ‘Bangladesh Shilpa Bank’, according to a press release.
 Professor Ahmed's academic journey spans across prestigious institutions, having studied at Dhaka, Islamabad, and York Universities.
 He began his teaching career in 1976 as a lecturer in the economics department at the University of Dhaka.
 At present, Abu Ahmed holds positions as director of Chittagong Stock Exchange (nominated), director of Bakrahbad Gas Co Ltd, a subsidiary of PetroBangla, the statement added.
Professor Ahmed writes extensively on economic and capital market issues and his writings influence heavily the decision-making process of the policy makers.
