Attorney General Md Asaduzzaman has urged the High Court to dismiss a petition seeking a ban of the Awami League as a political party.
The petition, filed by human rights organisation Sarada Society, was presented before the HC bench of Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice Muhammad Mahbub Ul Islam on Tuesday.
During the hearing, the attorney general argued that the interim government has no intention of banning any political party, and such a move would undermine the constitutional power that allows political parties to operate.   

He emphasised that while people have suffered under the previous authoritarian regime, there are legal and judicial mechanisms in place to address these grievances.
