Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) general secretary Emran Hossain Tushar on Saturday said that he is optimistic about Bangladeshi-born English footballer Hamza Chowdhury’s representation for the men in red and green team.

Hamza Chowdhury, who plays for the English Premier League (EPL) outfit Leicester City, recently received his Bangladeshi passport. Hamza’s mother Rafia Chowdhury collected the passport from the Bangladesh High Commission in London on behalf of him on Friday.

“He (Hamza) gave a NOC to us that he is interested in playing for Bangladesh a day before his passport collection. We, then, wrote to The Football Association (FA) yesterday about his interest and requested them to give a NOC so that we can forward these letters and other documents to get permission from FIFA’s players’ status committee,” said Emran.

“We are optimistic about Hamza Chowdhury’s representation for Bangladesh. His issue is a bit different than Jamal Bhuyan and Tariq Kazi, but we are optimistic and positive about him because we can see a lot of examples regarding this issue worldwide,” the BFF GS concluded.
