Sajid’s killers to be awarded severe punishment

Nahid Islam, adviser to the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology, said on Thursday that those responsible for the brutal killings of students and the public will be held accountable under the law.
He was commenting after attending the namaz-e-janaza for Sajid at Bilkukdi village under Birtara union of Tangail’s Dhanbari upazila, yesterday morning. Sajid was killed in police firing during the anti-discrimination student movement.
Informing that Sajid’s killers would be awarded severe punishment, Nahid said, "Today, Sajid’s sacrifice has brought us new freedom. The people of Bangladesh will forever remember the bravery and dedication of Sajid and others who sacrificed their lives for the country. The trial of the murderers of Sajid and others will be held on the soil of Bangladesh. From now on, I assume the full responsibility for Sajid’s family."
It is worth-mentioning that Ikramul Haque Sajid, a student of Jagannath University, sustained grievous injuries in police firing during the anti-discrimination student movement on 4 August.  Later, he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Dhaka on 14 August.
