Theatre troupe TheatrEx Bangladesh’s new production ‘Swarnaboal’ will be staged at the Experimental Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) this evening.

‘Swarnaboal’ is an inclusive theatre piece featuring Bangladeshi theatre artistes and artistes with disabilities. Written by legendary playwright Selim Al Deen and directed by renowned director Sudip Chakroborthy, the play depicts the ultimate truth: “Winning or losing never matters if you possess the truest devotion”.

The play revolves around a fisherman’s son Teerman who is obsessed with a golden fish named “Swarnaboal”. In the play the audience will see that Teerman loves a mute girl Shanjhmala. He wants to marry her. Although his love does not come to fruition, he vows to catch “Swarnaboal” at any costs.

The stage, costume and light for the play have been designed by Pankaj Ninad, Samiun Jahan Dola and Amlan Biswash respectively.
