Japanese PM, FM condole at loss of lives, displacement

Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio and Foreign Minister KAMIKAWA Yoko have expressed deep shock at the loss of many precious lives and the displacement of many people, especially in the southern coastal areas of Bangladesh, due to Cyclone Remal that ripped through the country on Sunday.
In a message of condolences to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday, he said reiterated that Japan will always stand by Bangladesh as it emerges from this difficult time.
“On behalf of the Government of Japan, I pray for the souls of the victims and extend my deepest condolences to the bereaved families. I would also like to express my deepest sympathy to those affected by the disaster and my sincere wishes for the swift recovery of the affected areas.”
Prime Minister Kishida said the Government of Japan will spare no effort to provide the necessary support for the swift recovery of the affected areas. “I would like to reiterate that Japan will always stand by Bangladesh as it emerges from this difficult time.”
Meanwhile, in a message to her Bangladesh counterpart Dr Hasan Mahmud on the same day, Japanese Foreign Minister KAMIKAWA Yoko extended her sincere condolences to the victims and their bereaved families.
