Bangladesh has full support for the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) chief prosecutor’s demand for issuing an arrest warrant against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Foreign Minister and Awami League Joint General Secretary Hasan Mahmud has said.

“We support the demand made by the ICC chief prosecutor to issue an
arrest warrant against Netanyahu. The Israeli prime minister has now become an enemy of humanity. He has gone so far that he does not even listen to America,” he said while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion on “World Peace and Recognition of the State of Palestine”, organised by the Bangladesh Swadhinata Parishad and the weekly Ganabangla at the Diploma Engineers Institute in the capital on Friday.

Presenting Awami League's clear position against the genocide in Gaza, Hasan Mahmud said, “Some Islamic parties also held a rally in front of Baitul Mukarram before the election, but they could not hold a big rally for Palestine, only Chhatra League and Awami League and their wings did.”

The foreign minister said, “The establishment of a Palestinian state is necessary for the establishment of world peace. Israeli forces are firing indiscriminately, killing people. People all over the world are now in favour of Palestine. However, when this issue is raised in the United Nations, some countries veto it. This is very sad.”

He also said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is always vocal on the issue of Palestine. She sent aid to Palestine.
At the programme, Religious Affairs Minister Faridul Haque Khan Dulal said, “Bangladesh is in favour of Palestine. Bangladesh has always condemned Israel for its atrocities. Israel recognised Bangladesh but Bangladesh rejected it.”

He said, “Our position on the Palestine issue is very clear. We want a two-state solution. Al Aqsa is associated with the emotions of Muslims. We want a separate territory, country and flag for Muslims there. We will have all-out support and cooperation in this regard.”

Awlad Hussain, a member of the parliament, said, “Human rights are violated in Palestine. Children, women and men are killed there. This brutal killing is termed genocide all over the world. As the mother of humanity, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is playing a vocal role against Israel’s atrocities.”
