The National University will take strict action against those who sit for exams without attending classes.
NU Vice-Chancellor Prof Mashiur Rahman said this while speaking as the chief guest at an orientation programme for newly-enrolled students at the university's central auditorium on Sunday.
The NU VC said, “Students should attend classes regularly. A student must complete his education not only by obtaining a certificate but also by acquiring proper knowledge by regularly participating in classes and examinations.”
Otherwise, obtaining a paper certificate will not provide any benefit. In today's competitive world, there is no substitute for skills, he added.
The VC also said that the national university is working to ensure digital access for all students.
“Students have access to e-books, e-journals, and e-papers. Smart Bangladesh must ensure a strong presence in the world. As citizens of the entire world, we must prepare ourselves by using information technology,” he further added.
Dean of the school of pre-university education, Prof Nasiruddin, presided over the orientation, while Treasurer Prof Abdus Salam Hawladar attended it as the special guest.
Registrar Mullah Mahfuz Al-Hossain, heads of departments, teachers, officers, and employees of the university were also present at the event.
