‘France to assist Bangladesh in installing lightning prevention devices’

France will assist in setting up lightning protection devices, constructing infrastructure, and providing training in addition to exchanging technical knowledge on it in Bangladesh.
State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Md Mohibbur Rahman said this while talking to reporters on Monday after a meeting with France Ambassador to Bangladesh Marie Masdupuy at the Secretariat in Dhaka.

Expressing worry about the recent surge in lightning-related fatalities, the state minister affirmed the government’s commitment to decreasing such casualties and losses.
Apart from raising awareness among people over lightning, effective measures will be taken to install lightning prevention devices, he said.
State Minister for Information Technology Palak was present at the meeting.

Making technically skilled manpower
Following the meeting with the French ambassador, Palak said, “Our IT representatives will visit France to discuss a formal agreement aimed at enhancing technology skills.  “France’s trade minister has invited Bangladesh and said that 12 IT companies of Bangladesh are being taken on this visit. There we will have meetings with about 120 companies in France.”

Palak said Bangladesh will participate in Divatec, one of Europe’s biggest technology festivals, for the first time. “We will highlight the technical potential and capabilities of Bangladesh at the Bangladesh Pavilion. A bilateral meeting will be held with the Trade Minister of France.”
“We will visit the Air Bus satellite manufacturing lab in France. France has a very successful initiative ‘School Forty-Two’ to make the future generation of Bangladesh skilled and competent as smart citizens. We have developed a relationship with them, we want to bring them to Bangladesh.”
