Atahar Ishraque Shabab Chowdhury has won the chairman post in the Subarnachar upazila parishad election held on Wednesday.
He defeated Noakhali district Awami League President AHM Khairul Anam Chowdhury Salim by a margin of 703 votes.
 Shabab, son of Noakhali-4 (Sadar-Subarnachar) lawmaker Ekramul Karim Chowdhury, bagged 37,648 votes with ‘Pineapple’ while his nearest rival Khairul Anam polled 36,945 with ‘Fountain Pen’ symbol.
Terming the victory of Shabab Chowdhury, 26, the victory of the youth, local people brought out a procession and distributed sweetmeat on Wednesday night.

“This victory is the victory of the common people of the upazila. The victory has been achieved overcoming many conspiracies,” Shabab said in an instant reaction.
He also vowed to work for people taking all together, dedicating the victory to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and his father.
