Bangladesh national women’s team went 0-2 down in the ongoing five-match WT20I series after they lost the second rain-marred match by 19 runs in the D/L method at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.
The Tigresses, who won the toss and elected to bat first, made 119 runs in their 20 overs before India reached 47-1 in 5.2 overs when the rain came back to interrupt the proceedings.
The match couldn’t be started in due time and the match officials awarded India a 19-run win as per the D/L method. Earlier, Bangladesh lost the series opener by 44 runs at the same venue on Sunday.
On Tuesday, opener Murshida Khatun made the highest 46 off 49 balls while Ritu Moni and Sobhana Mostary made 20 and 19 runs respectively but the hosts could only post a below-par total against a strong Indian batting lineup.
Radha Yadav took three wickets while Deepti Sharma and Shreyanka Patil took two wickets each.
Chasing a target of 120 runs, India lost opener Shafali Verma (0) in the second ball but Dayalan Hemalatha struck an unbeaten 41 off 24 balls with five fours and two sixes to take them close to the 50-run mark within the powerplay before the rain started to fall heavily.
Marufa Akter was the lone wicket-taker for Bangladesh in the contest. The third match of the series will take place on Thursday at the same venue.
