Berger, Dhaka University renew deal, bring new art competition

Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited, the country’s leading paint solution brand, has recently renewed its memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Dhaka University (DU) for the Berger award for the university’s students of fine arts.
The MoU renewal ceremony was held at the Berger Corporate Office on Sunday, reads a press release.
In a move to further enrich the collaboration, Berger is significantly increasing the awards’ monetary values and introducing “Berger Illusion Art Competition”, as part of the renewed MoU. Along with the previous nine scholarships, the addition of this new category takes the total number of awards to ten. The addition of this competition reflects Berger's commitment to promoting diverse forms of artistic expression.
The ceremony was attended by Rupali Chowdhury, managing director of Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited, Professor Nisar Hossain, dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, DU, Md Mohsin Habib Chowdhury, chief operating officer, Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited, Tanzeen Ferdous Alam, chief marketing officer, Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited, Md Abul Hashem Khan, legendary artist and emeritus professor of the Department of Oriental Art of the Faculty of Fine Arts, along with other dignitaries from Berger Paints and the Faculty of Fine Arts, DU.
The occasion celebrated the extension of the collaboration for another five years, starting in April 2024. Since its inception in 2017, the “Berger Award for Students of Fine Arts, DU” programme has been instrumental in recognising and nurturing talent among the students of the fine arts.
Under this programme, Berger has been presenting a total of nine scholarships annually, including recognition for department-wise best students and the coveted “Student of the Year” award.
During the ceremony, Rupali Chowdhury said, “We are pleased to renew our partnership with the university's Faculty of Fine Arts, affirming our ongoing support for its outstanding students. Since 1996, Berger has also organised the ‘Berger Young Painters’ Art Competition (BYPAC)’ to support and empower young artists throughout Bangladesh.
