Country’s popular television actor Waliul Haq Rumi passed away after battling with cancer. He breathed his last at a hospital in the capital on Monday morning.   
The actor was diagnosed with colon cancer a few months ago. Then he went to India for treatment. After returning home, he was undergoing treatment at a private hospital.
Rumi’s co-actors like Ziaul Faruq Apurba, Shahnaz Khushi confirmed the news and shared their condolence on social media.
“The popular face of television drama Waliul Haq Rumi Bhai passed away a while ago. Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. Please everyone pray for him,” Apurba wrote.
The actor is survived by his wife, son, and daughter.
Hailed from Barishal, Rumi’s acting journey began through the stage play “Ekhono Kritodash” in 1988. He made his television debut with the drama “Kon Kanoner Phool” in the same year.
His popular dramas include “Suggestion Selim”, “Bokashoka Tinjon”, “Makeup Man”, “Dhaka to Barishal”, “Journey by Bus”, “Dhaka Metro Love”, “Chaita Pagol”, “Bap Beta Dourer Upor”, “American Shaheb”, “Bakir Nam Faki”, “Comedy 420”, “Jomoj” series and “Bokulpur”.
Rumi also acted in films. His first film “Doriaparer Douloti” was released in 2009.
 The actor was last seen in several television dramas on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
