Reigning champions Bashundhara Kings clinched their ninth win in the ongoing ABG Bashundhara Bangladesh Premier League 2023-24 after they outplayed Chittagong Abahoni Ltd by 5-0 goals at the Shaheed Bir Shreshta Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshigani on Friday.

Kings local forward Rakib Hossain was the star of the show as he struck a brace in the 19th and 53rd minute respectively while Brazilian forwards Dorielton Gomes and Robson Robinho and Uzbek midfielder Asror Gafurov scored one goal each for the winning side.

Dorielton scored the opener in the second minute before Robson doubled the lead in the 13th minute.
Rakib scored his first goal six minutes later before Gafurov gave the Kings a 4-0 lead in the injury time of the first half.
Rakib then scored his second goal in the match just a few minutes into the second half.

Kings tried hard to extend their winning margin but Chittagong Abahoni players successfully kept their goalpost intact in the last 37 minutes of the game.
With the day’s feat, Kings consolidated their top slot with 28 points from 11 matches while Chittagong Abahoni Ltd slipped to ninth spot with 10 points from 11 games.

Meanwhile, in the day’s other match, Dhaka Abahani Limited lost crucial points after they played a 1-1 draw with Fortis FC at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni Stadium in Gopalganj.
After a barren first half, Ukrainian footballer Valeriy Gryshyn gave Fortis a lead in the 61st minute.

Cornelius Stewart then scored the face-saving equalizer for the sky-blue Dhanmondi outfit in the fifth minute of the stoppage time to avoid defeat in the contest.
After the day’s match, Dhaka Abahani Ltd remained in third place with 19 points from 11 outings while Fortis SC went down to sixth position with 13 points from 11 matches.
At the Muktijoddha Smriti Stadium in Rajshahi, Mostafa Kahraba and Eboateng scored one goal each as Rahamatganj MFS beat bottom-ranked Brothers Union Club by 2-0 goals.
