Lucky Akhtar, 18, is a girl from Karimpur village in the Sadar Union of Muradnagar upazila of Cumilla. Her life is full of hardships. When Lucky was two years old, her parents got separated. When she was six, her mother married another man and started a new family. Floating from one place to another, Lucky finally took refuge at her old grandmother’s house.
The old grandmother is worried about making a good move for her helpless granddaughter before she breathes her last. She brought Lucky to the Bashundhara Shuvosangho Training Centre, run with the help of the Bashundhara Group. Lucky was admitted to sewing training there for free.
Lucky has been dreaming of standing on her own feet for a long time and has come to take sewing training.
She said, “I didn’t get the love of my parents. I could not study. My grandmother now walks with a stick. I am the burden on that helpless old grandmother. In short, I am completely unlucky, but now I have found a way to rearrange life.”
