Homebound travellers for the Eid-ul-Fitr celebration experienced a smooth journey on Wednesday, the first day of the Eid exodus, as most trains departed Dhaka on schedule.
A total of 42 intercity trains carrying passengers left the capital for various destinations throughout the day.
At Kamalapur Railway Station, a temporary queuing system using a bamboo-framed gate ensured only ticketed passengers entered the station.
For passenger safety and security, temporary booths were set up by law
enforcement agencies, including police and RAB.
Kamalapur Railway Station Manager Md Masud Sarwar said several trains left Dhaka for various destinations since Wednesday morning. However, the passenger rush was still low as the office-goers were yet to start their travels, he added.
Railways Minister Md Zillul Hakim came to the Kamalapur Railway Station to inspect the overall issues of the Eid train journey on the day.
Talking to journalists at the rail station, he said that strict instructions were given to ensure that no one can make Eid travels without tickets.
