Aiming to inspire professional journalists to undertake informative, investigative, and research-oriented reporting on various aspects of the jewellery sector, the Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association (BAJUS) is set to bestow the ‘BAJUS Media Award 2024’ for the second time and has extended invitations to reporters to submit their works for consideration.
Journalists from both Bangla and English newspapers, online news portals, and television channels are encouraged to submit their published reports on specific subject matters relevant to the jewellery industry.
The trade body will recognise a total of nine reports across three categories – Bangla and English, online newspapers, and television. Three journalists from each category will be honoured with gold medals worth Tk1.5 lakh, Tk1.25 lakh, and Tk1 lakh respectively, as per a press release issued on Wednesday.
An esteemed jury consisting of prominent journalists will assess reports covering diverse issues such as the current state of the jewellery industry, its contribution to the national economy, investment trends, employment opportunities and challenges, global prospects, export potential, banking practices, policy impact, regulatory challenges, anti-smuggling measures, and other related topics including workforce conditions and technical education in the jewellery industry.
Reports published between 1 July 2023 and 30 June 2024 will be eligible for consideration for the ‘BAJUS Media Award 2024’. Each journalist can submit their work in a single category, with a series of reports being treated as a single submission. For newspapers and online portals, one original copy of the report with the supervisor’s attestation and an MS Word file version should be provided.
Only news reports published in newspapers and online news portals are eligible for submission, while columns or opinions will not be considered. For television entries, only news bulletins will be accepted, and reports published exclusively on the web portals of newspapers will not be considered for the online category.
Submissions for newspapers and online portals should include two copies of the report, an original copy with the publication date and an MS Word file version. The original copy must be attested by the Editor, News Editor, or Chief Reporter, while the composed copy should omit the reporter’s name and platform.
For televised news reports, the materials, including video of the broadcast report on a CD or pen drive, written script of the report, a certificate from the Head of News, Chief News Editor, or Chief Reporter of the television station concerned, with the date of broadcast of the report should be submitted.
The report should be submitted along with the reporters’ mobile number and email address, as well as a brief resume and one copy of their photograph.
All submissions must reach the BAJUS office by 5pm on 15 July 2024. The category should be indicated on the envelope, and submissions should be addressed to BAJUS Media Award 2024, Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association, Level 19, Bashundhara Shopping Complex, Panthapath, Dhaka-1215.
