Chattogram District Police arrested five alleged members of a dacoit gang during a raid on Wahedpur Rastarmatha area of Mirsari thana of the district on Friday night.
The arrestees are Md Khokan, 28, Mostafa, 35, Suman Mia, 33, Rasel Hossain, 33, and Monsur Alam, 36.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of the police conducted a drive in the area and arrested the ‘robbers’ when they were making preparation to commit robbery targeting vehicles and pedestrians on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mirsari Thana Shahidul Islam.
