A Sri Lanka Cricket official said on Friday that they have already moved on from the controversial umpiring decision against them in the second game as they prepare to take on Bangladesh in the series-deciding game at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium today.
Following the defeat in the second game, Sri Lanka’s assistant coach Naveed Nawaz said that they will take the matter to the match referee as they were convicted that Soumya Sarkar was caught behind which was overturned by TV umpire Masudur Rahman at SICS on Wednesday.
“I think we have moved on from what had happened in that match. We can’t undo it and there is a report being sent about umpires after every game. We have followed the procedure and whatever action needs to be taken has to be taken by the ICC,” Sri Lankan team manager Mahinda Halangoda took over the microphone from batting coach Thilina Kandamby during a press conference when a journalist sought the attention of the latter on the issue.
“Obviously they will look at the footage and they will take whatever action they have to. I think for us that episode is over.
“Well it’s up to the ICC to get back to us or they might not get back to us. But I am sure they will review what happened and they will take whatever action. From our side, we have done whatever has to be done,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, Kandamby said that they are confident of winning the series and the presence of Wanindu Hasaranga, who will be returning after a two-match suspension, will bolster their confidence.
Charith Asalanka led Sri Lanka in the opening two games of the ongoing series.
“I think Wanindu’s getting back into the side is a good advantage for us because it’s good morale boosting and also maybe he can have a big impact. Especially, when you are bowling in a day game with no dew factor which is good for us,” said Kandamby.
