Swapna Akhter is a resident of Jatrapur village under Kashinagar union of Chauddagram upazila. Swapna, the wife of Sharif, hailed from an economically disadvantaged family. So, she wants to shoulder the responsibility of her family whatever she can.
Bashundhara inaugurated a sewing training centre in Kashinagar area to add insolvent women to the mainstream economy by providing them with sewing training free of cost.
A total of 20 women participated in the programme, and upon completion of the training, each of them will also be given a sewing machine free of cost.

Swapna Akhter is one of the 20 women. She is a victim of child marriage. Her husband, who used to run a van, is now on complete rest following an accident.
“We have no house and land of our own. We reside in a house of other people. We don’t get anything in life. We along with our six-year-old son survive somehow. We couldn’t find any path for our survival,” she said. “Now, we’ll be given a sewing machine free of cost. It’s the highest consolation in our life,” Swapna said, expressing her optimism of becoming a self-dependent individual in society.
She said her family frequently suffers from food crisis and now there will be no such problem thanks to the sewing machine.  “I want to grow up my son with proper education. Now, I believe I’ll be able to do so. I’ll offer prayers for Bashundhara Group,” Swapna said.
