The court ordered the attachment of assets of Evely's Managing Director (MD) Russell and Chairman Shamima Nasreen in the fraud case.
The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Begum Farah Diba Chandra gave this order on Thursday. An arrest warrant was issued against them in this case on 15 February.
The plaintiff's lawyer Sakibul Islam confirmed the matter.
He said, "On 15 February, the court ordered the issuance of the arrest warrant against the accused in this case. After that, I applied for hulia and attachment of property against the accused for further action in the case. After the hearing, the court also granted that application.
It is known that Mujahid Hasan Fahim, a resident of Darus Salam police station in the capital, ordered a bike worth Tk5 lakh on 20 February 2021, and paid its price. If the plaintiff failed to deliver the purchased motorcycle on time within (45) working days, Fahim contacted the Dhanmondi office of Evaly and issued a check for the payment of the motorcycle purchase.
To encash the cheque, on August 23 of that year, Evely phoned the company and requested the bank not to deposit the check on the due date as the bank did not have sufficient funds.
