‘Payer Awaz Pawa Jay’ at Mahila Samity tomorrow

Country’s popular drama troupe Theatre will stage its much-acclaimed production “Payer Awaz Pawa Jay” at the Nilima Ibrahim Auditorium of Bangladesh Mahila Samity in the capital tomorrow.
Written by Syed Shamsul Haq and directed by Abdullah Al Mamun, the play is one of the most-appreciated productions which played an important role in the neo-theatre movement of Bangladesh.
Based on the story of a village, “Payer Awaz Pawa Jay” zoomed in on the brutal genocide conducted by the Pakistani occupation army during the War of Liberation in 1971.
The production had its debut in 1976 and played an important role in the neo-theatre movement of Bangladesh.
“Payer Awaj Pawa Jay” is the first production of the country which had many shows in and outside of the country and earned international awards.
In March, 1981, the production went to Seoul to participate at the World Drama Festival. Under the direction of late Abdullah Al Mamun, it earned much appreciation and turned into one of the most significant plays in the late seventies.
The probable cast of the play includes Ferdousi Majumdar, Keramat Maola, Paresh Acharya, Tropa Majumdar, Khurshid Alam, Maruf Kabir, Tofa Hossain, Atikur Rahman and others.
