Polish national found dead in Ctg hotel

Police recovered body of a polish national from a hotel in the port city on Monday.
According to the deceased's passport, his name was Zdzislaw Michal Czeryba, 58, and he was a Polish national, came to Bangladesh for work.
Sources said Michal used to work as quality control officer at a buying house in the capital and came to Chattogram on an official trip. He visited Chattogram several times as the representative of the buying house since 2018.

He arrived at Chattogram on a flight of Fly Dubai on 24 February and stayed at the hotel The Peninsula Chittagong, a four-star hotel in the city’s GEC area. Michal also visited a readymade garment factory in the Chattogram Export Processing Zone (CEPZ) recently for work purpose, they said.

He had been residing at room No 905 of the hotel. As the authority didn’t get response from inside his room for a long time, they called in police on Monday morning. On information, police recovered the body, lying on one side of the bed, from the room around 10:30am, said Deputy Commissioner (DC South) Mostafizur Rahman of Chattogram Metropolitan Police. 

The body bore mark of injuries on different parts while the foreigner was also drunk, said the DC adding, the goods in his room were also found in an unorganised condition.
Asked whether it was murder, the officer said they collected CCTV footages of the hotel and investigation was going on in this regard.
The body was sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, he added.
Members of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) and Forensic team of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) also visited the spot.
