Mariners Youngs Club retained the Club Cup Hockey title after they defeated Abahani Limited by 2-0 goals in the six-team tournament final at the Maulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium in the capital on Saturday.
Mariners’ Indian player Deepak scored a field goal in the 19th minute to give his side a 1-0 lead before their captain Fazle Hossain Rabby scored the second goal from a penalty stroke in the 45th minute.
Mariner earlier won their maiden title of this tournament in 2021 by beating four-time champions Abahani in the final at the same venue.
Earlier on Thursday, Mariner crushed Usha Krira Chakra by 8-4 goals while Abahani beat arch-rival Mohammedan Sporting Club by 3-2 goals in the semifinals to reach the final.
Abahni’s defender Ashraful Islam won the player of the tournament award while champions team captain Rabby was adjudged player of the final.
