The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has brought together leaders from youth organisations across Bangladesh and the private sector to establish new partnerships aimed at enhancing youth employment and fostering greater prosperity.
During a visit from Washington, DC, USAID Assistant Administrator for Asia, Michael Schiffer, joined USAID Mission Director Reed Aeschliman and Shikho CEO Shahir Chowdhury to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) focused on collaborating to develop the job skills of Bangladeshi youth and create more employment opportunities.
In its first-ever youth-private sector marketplace event, USAID facilitated connections between businesses such as Visa and Shikho and youth organisations like Jaago and the Bangladesh Youth Leadership Center.
The goal was to identify and bolster the skills necessary to modernise Bangladesh's workforce, empowering youth to contribute more substantially to the country's economic growth, according to a press release from the US Embassy in Dhaka.
