Eleven dengue patients were hospitalised in the past 24 hours until Saturday morning, according to the daily statement of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
“As many as 501 dengue patients were hospitalised in Dhaka north and south city corporation in between January 1 and February 24 while 829 were admitted to different hospitals outside the capital city during the period,” the statement added.
This year, the total number of dengue cases rose to 1,330 while 17 deaths from the mosquito-borne disease were recorded during the same period.
Last year, the country recorded 1,705 dengue-related deaths and a total of 321,179 dengue cases.
September was the deadliest month, as it witnessed an all-time record, with 79,598 cases and 396 deaths while 71,976 people were diagnosed with the disease and 342 died in August.
Besides, July, too, marked a critical period, as 43,854 people were infected with dengue virus while death toll reached 204.
