Four arrested with 2.104kg gold at HSIA

The National Security Intelligence (NSI) and APBN members arrested four passengers from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in the capital on Thursday along with gold bars, powder, and gold ornaments weighing 2.104kg.
The arrestees are Abdul Qadir, 41, of Munshiganj and Ibrahim Khalil, 40, of Patuakhali, Jewel Hossain, 34, and Khorshed Alam, 42, of Gazipur.
Airport Armed Police Battalion Additional Superintendent of Police Mohammad Ziaul Haque said that four cases were filed against the arrestees under the Special Powers Act with the airport police station and sent to the court. He said the market value of the recovered gold is Tk1.74 crore.
Ziaul said that they had information that a Dubai flight carrying the arrestees was bringing illegal gold with them. Later, NSI and APBN members took positions at the airport premises.
Sensing their entry, the security forces challenged them, said the officer.
Later, the NSI and APBN members recovered 316 grams of wet gold powder, a gold bar of 116 grams and a gold ornament of 94 grams after searching them.
During search, 316 grams of wet gold powder, 01 gold bars of 116 grams and 94 grams of gold ornaments were found from each of them hidden in their clothes.
